Welcome to Sensory play!

Sensory Play is an activity for parents and their babies, toddlers as well as children with Special Educational Needs that enjoy exploring sensory activities.

The session is ran by Abbie who is a fully trained Early Years Foundation Stage Teacher with a first class degree in Early Primary Education. Abbie has been working in education for the past fourteen years and has been a teacher for ten years and is currently Early Years Lead.

Why we started - a note from abbie

‘I am currently on Maternity and have loved going to different sensory classes in the week but found them harder to find on the weekend. I know this is beneficial to parents who work full time as well as ensuring partners have the chance to attend; hence I decided to deliver my own Sensory Play class on a Saturday. We have brought a wide range of resources including but not limited to, bubble tubes, fibrotic lights, infinity mirror, bouncy castle, ball pit and much more! I am planning on having themes for each session with a range of guided songs as well as self-led sensory play time. I want parents to feel comfortable so will be providing some refreshments - I really believe it is important for parents to connect and support one another. I want all parents to feel confident that they can feed, change nappies, walk around if children become over stimulated anytime they need to- I want it to be a positive experience for all. I have just updated my paediatric first aid training, the session has been risk assessed and risks will be discussed in each session, we are fully insured as well as our equipment PAT tested. I hope this reassures parents that themselves and their children will have a fun and safe time!’
